Criteria used in judging a photograph or photographer changes depending on
the purpose. Art
directors must first determine if the photography is appropriate to the
story they wish to tell. Photos can evoke a single word, such as
love or fear or home or can illustrate an entire chain
of events. This conveyance of values, ideas or opinions is used not only
in editorial work but in weddings and portraiture as well. Brides
expect to see emotion but should also look for things such as spontaneity
and clarity. In choosing a portrait photographer one should insist on finding someone who takes great care
to portray the sitter in a way that conveys his personality as well as
documenting his appearance. Art photography is very often chosen
based on an immediate strong emotion or memory. One way to begin learning what makes a "good" photo is to visit your local bookstore. Find a National Geographic publication, which are consistently superior, and compare it with a few other magazines. You will see right away that differences in quality are quite apparent. Technical ability and style aside, photographers also differ in their patience, persistence, intuition and ability to collaborate. I invite you to contact me, by phone or by email to talk about your specific photography needs. A single picture truly is worth a thousand words...so choose carefully. Besides weddings, portraits, pets and editorial, I offer an array of art prints. If I've met you at a local art fair I'd love to hear from you. I've added an order capability to the website so that you can find the print you want in the size you want which may not have been available at the show. If there is a subject you'd like to see covered please let me know by emailing me. I look forward to hearing from you! Thanks for visiting.
